Don't miss our second week of the Pear Tree Art show, sale, and workshops! Tomorrow (Friday) evening from 5:00-8:00, 1890 Bryant #302.

First Weekend

We got everything set up in time and it looks great. The sun flooded in those south-facing windows all day Sunday.

We have plenty of gifts to choose from: paintings, drawings, prints, encaustics, photography, ceramic sculptures, felted sculptures, clothing, knitted hats, scarves, shrugs, redwood iPhone/iPod stands, greeting cards, tarot cards, jewelry, purses, pillows, lighting, and more.

The big sofas and comfy chairs were often filled with people sipping hot cider and chatting with artists. Really - when was the last time you attended an art show (or shopping experience) this mellow?

The big workshop table in the middle was a popular spot for drawing and making cards. Next week, we may add some new activities.

Later, this evening (5-8pm) drop by 1890 Bryant for a glass of wine and a first look at the artist-made gifts for sale at Pear Tree Arts.

Then Sunday afternoon (11-3pm) come by and make something yourself:

* Pam Heyda will demonstrating how to make an embossed card. She invites you to use her materials and join her in creating personalized cards of your own.

* Cynthia Tom will be showing you how to Personalize a Purse: Retroesque Vinyl Purses with collage materials galore. Create a unique signature piece.

* Anna Efanova will be providing materials and instructions in Magic Drawing - tap into your creativity by playing a game with pen and magic paper.

* Anna Conti will be drawing to order, on her iPad. She'll draw a portrait of you, or of any photo or object you bring along. The finished drawing will be emailed to you instantly via Pear Tree WiFi.

* a small fee applies to each workshop

Note: the Pear Tree Art studio space is on the third floor of 1890 Bryant, and there is no elevator available this weekend. Ring the bell for space #302, and one of us will come down to let you in.

A temporary retail store. Come in with wonder and curiosity. Chill with a cocktail, glass of wine or hot apple cider.

Sundays there will be workshops where you can make your own personalized gifts with help from the various artists. Samples:

Cynthia will have her collection of blank box purses to collage on. $45 provides the purse, access to her materials (she has a ton) and instruction. Bring whatever you like to collage on for $25.
Anna Conti will be drawing your portraits on her IPAD and send it to you electronically so you can print them out as cards and fine art gifts.
Pam Heyda will help you make the your holiday cards heirlooms for the recipients

Since I was a child I was directly connected with Arts in general and nature. Organic form and materials seem to be the common thread in my jewelry designs, bringing a love of natural shapes and textures.

It's my hope to create art pieces, wearable art that communicates messages of unity and preservation of nature.

Working with gemstones, pearls, sterling silver and different organic materials, I composed a unique one-of-a kind jewelry and a diversity of lines.

Escape the crowds! Instead, come hang out with us at our open studio art sale! We'll be sipping hot cider and noshing in a relaxed and creative environment. You'll be able to purchase original art at very affordable prices for yourself or for that special friend. We'll be making lots of art and conversation, and you're welcome to join in!

We have large comfy sofas, big tables for making things, and plenty of activities. You can observe art demonstrations or participate in one of our workshops. Take a look at the things we've made, buy some, commission something, or make something of your own!

So who are we? We're an eclectic group of 10 San Francisco artists: painters and sculptors, jewelers and collage artists, and much more. Because we're such a diverse group, you'll find quality art pieces of every kind: beautiful, thoughtful, edgy, or quirky-- and each piece is unique.

We chose the name Pear Tree Art because it's reminiscent of the song that unfolds its many layers of mystery and surprise over a period of days. Each day you visit with us, there will be new discoveries to make as you meet the artists and see the work of this multifaceted group. Friday evenings will be an opportunity to relax with wine and conversation, while Sunday afternoons will be your chance to see the art-making process at work.

Cassia Soares Apple - jewelry

Anna L. Conti - a realist painter, Anna usually paints narrative series on canvas, but for this show she has selected 100 pages from her sketchbooks - drawings and watercolors, which she will be selling unframed. Also, Anna is has been doing some sketching on her new iPad lately and she is offering to draw your digital portrait during the event.

Shari Arai Deboer - is a printmaker and painter. She is showing her etchings, notecards and the recently released deck of tarot cards, Science Tarot in which she illustrated the swords suit. Shari will be demonstrating how she paints watercolor on her hand printed etchings, the technique she used for the Science Tarot cards. She is a close observer of plant life and everyday objects and uses them to evoke visual stories in her artwork.

Anna Efanova - is doing Magic drawing. Tap into your creativity by playing a game. All you need is a pen and the magic paper :) Among the organic shapes there are hidden creatures, people, animals, stories - and they are waiting for you to be discovered. Look into the world of magic that is in you.

Pamela Heyda - is showing paintings from her most recent series; "Still Life - Precious Things". These small oil paintings are intimate portraits of found beach objects, fruit and more. Also, Pamela will demonstrating how to make an embossed card. She invites you to use her materials and join her in creating personalized cards of your own.

Lorraine Mock - will be selling blank Greeting cards: 12 designs, original artwork - chinese brush painting, pen & ink, colored pen & ink, as well as knitted scarves, shrugs, ponchos.

Adele Shaw - encaustics, knitting, and iPhone/iPad accessories

Ramona Soto - will be showing mainly abstract drawings, paintings, and collages. She has also made whimsical food-related jewelry. Yum!

Cynthia Tom - Personalize a Purse: Retroesque Vinyl Purses with collage materials galore. Create a unique signature piece! Or, 2D Intutive Collage. $15-$45

Vivian Truong - Vivian will be selling many/most of her photography work created during her time at California College of the Arts. Gelatin Silver Prints and chromogenic prints ranging from $5 to $45. Also included will be lithograph prints, a variety of her felt "take me home" plants, mounted ink sketches, and very special rubbings (for only a dollar!) Hoping everyone will find something special to take home.
